New Series Announcement

All has been quiet from me for some time and I know there have been no new books arriving however this does not mean that I have not been doing things behind the scenes.

Writing a story with such breadth and depth as what I have planned is a massive undertaking and I have been laying out the foundations for this so that I am covering elements that will be way down the line. The last time I was here, I introduced the Proteus Apocalypse Series. Well, now it is about time I revealed to you exactly what is going to be coming in the long term.

 The Death Blade Chronicles
This 12 book series covers the adventures of Zaxas and his team as they hunt down the worst scum of the galaxy. Set in the Proteus universe, the series will cross over with other series as Death Blade will make guest appearances. Darker, grittier and more violent that any of my other series this is already planned out story wise and writing has already commenced. The series starts shortly before the events of Proteus Serendipity.

Proteus Shadow War
A first for me as this is a young adult series as you are introduced to Hathor, a young God Hunter as she is flung to the far side of the galaxy along with a group of gifted school kids. Facing off against the nightmarish species known as the Xi, they have to find a way home, going on adventures along with way. Shadow war is a 12 book series which crosses over with the Olympus Initiative and the other Proteus series.

Proteus Shadow Angels
Following on in a rather indirect way from Shadow War, Shadow Angels is really the prequel to all of my books. The series starts in 2001, 16 years before the Alphians arrive on Earth and tells the story of Ghost, a lone Proteus ship flung back in time. Stranded, she takes the slow road home to her own time, but ends up becoming a legend in her own right as the phantom that will help guide the story of Proteus as well as protecting Earth.

Proteus Infinity
This is the final series of Proteus set after Odyssey. Infinity follows the exploits of the infamous Squad Zero, also known as the Fixers. Sent to hunt down and apprehend the mysterious and dangerous Xaris, the team get far more than they bargained for, flung in to the multiverse where alternate realities exist. Follow them as they enter one universe where they encounter the evil overlord version of the Alphians and another universe where the Avorans and the Apeyron are at war and the rest of the galaxy are caught in the cross fire. There is even one universe they encounter that they thought they would never see again. To get home they have to work with Xaris however it seems this trans dimensional being has his own agenda, searching for an answer to a question. How do you kill gods?

All 48 books have all the basics of the story laid out, characters and profiles created and even some provisional art work done. I have been busy writing these stories and also laying out how these books will affect the books in my other series.

I am also continuing to make progress on my stalled books and I am hoping to start releasing the first batch of these later on this year.

I do apologise for how long it is taking me to get everything in to place but trust me, you are in for a treat when all these books start to hit the shelves!

Proteus Apocalypse Series Reveal

"A year from now, Beletrix will be destroyed. Nearly everyone you hold dear will perish because of a mistake you will both make because you were being kind. It starts with the human's adopted ship, Aurora. When she came to Earth so long ago, she was one of four sisters. Her Avoran crew abandoned her there, but the other three ships travelled to their home system. Aurora will make contact with her sisters and will try to escape and you will help her and discover a place of wonders and death. A team from Beletrix will go there aboard Miras and Saya and they will uncover the secret of the Avorans, a promise of unlimited energy but a bringer of death as well. It is what destroys Beletrix. Only Koli, Saya, Qidgee and Norcee escape. Miras, Terrik, and the other younger sisters will perish alongside our friends and family, as will the young Emperor to be, Tath and so the horrible spiral of destruction begins. The Emperor's heart breaks at the news of his son's death, and within six months, he passes and the Apeyron fall in to civil war. Razon's madness is rekindled. With the remaining survivors of Beletrix settling on Aemus to mount a defence, Earth is wiped out as the start of the Second Apeyron war begins. The human race is extinguished. After a long and bitter war, the Apeyron are annihilated, but Aemus lies in ruins, billions dead. During the war, the Proteus family grows hundreds of individuals filling the sky but in time, the survivors of the Vu'kno reach the end of their natural lives and the only remaining legacy of our once proud species is Proteus."

That passage will be familiar to readers of my work. It is the Koli from 1700 years in our future as she returns to our time to right a terrible mistake she made and prevent that nightmare from ever happening.

With Proteus as a series approaching its end, the upcoming Proteus Unbound Series has long been known about and it deals with the fall out of what old Koli did, breaking the laws of time itself to prevent that history from ever occuring. However as I have been working on Proteus Odyssey and Apotheca, setting the stage for those two series, it was becoming clear that the story of the Future That Never Was was growing beyond this simple starting point. In fact I had already go the basics of that entire timeline down.

It became clear to me that in the telling of Unbound, Odyssey and Apotheca, I really needed to tell the story of the Thousand Year War and as a result, I have now laid out a new 12 book series that will run alongside Proteus Unbound, aptly titled Proteus Apocalypse.

In the series you will learn the whole story as well as meet a new cast. In fact I have already created thirty new and unique Proteus ships that will star in the series, adding to those that have already been put forward in the other series. So... may as well do an introduction...

Expect more on this soon.

Meet the Cast of Proteus on Youtube

One thing I do like to do is flesh out what my characters look like and considering my characters are living starships, then obviously I breathe life in to them. When you are writing, imagination is everything, but if you can really visualise what these characters look like in your minds eye, it really does give them true shape and form... which is why I create 3D models of all the main characters.

My daughter and I were talking the other day about how this is hard to visualise even with the spec sheets I create for the ships. There is a big difference between a flat image and something that allows you to see them. So I suggested I do a video animation of them... one thing then led to another and... well, I now have a Youtube channel.

At the moment I am simply doing 3D rotation animations, roughly 16 seconds in length. These let you see each of the ships in a real time environment. Most people would think this is a straight forward job, but doing high quality HD animations in 3D is quite an involved process. Each animation is 480 frames and takes approximately 4 hours to render.

On my channel you can find all of my current ship designs from Symbiotica, to Proteus, to the Olympus Initiative, to Proteus Unbound, then to Proteus Odyssey and finally to Apotheca. There are 63 ships in total and finally you can see each of the ships in a far more real way.

I will as always be adding more to the list including more from the Odyssey Series including Mercy and the little Knights of Avalon (they are baby Proteus ships) as well as new members of the Proteus families that will be making an appearance. I will also be introducing Strava, a new Asteria ship that is one of the stars of the Infinite Empire Series.

Check out my animation work here if you are interested.

Enjoy!

Apotheca - Cast update & Images

The Apotheca Series has slowly been taking shape and I wanted to really flesh out some of the characters in the new series.

The first surprise will be they are Proteus, specifically from the Future That Never Was.

Anyhow... enjoy...

Proteus Art - Apotheca

Been a while... I know.
Welcome to the world of Covid... makes a mess.

I have been working on elements from the upcoming Proteus Odyssey Series and its companion series Apotheca. These are the Quai, terrifying and powerful living ships that live in a galaxy far... oh you get the idea.

With things getting back to something of a normal, I will post more soon. I have been working as best as I can during these awful times, but balancing everything has been extremely difficult.

Enjoy

Proteus Art - God Hunters

The Thousand Year was on the verge of its climax, one that would see the Apeyron wiped from the Universe.
Shortly before the end came a new family of Proteus. They became known only as the God Hunters.
It is said that they saved everyone from Death, but they paid the ultimate price for their heroism.

(The final family of Proteus arrive and they are quite different from everything that came before. Really happy with the models of Anubis, Ammit, Neith and Selqet.)

(Edit... Okay, I decided to rehack Ammit and Selqet and then do a new version of the image... can't help it if I am a perfectionist... got to agree this image really does hit home more though)

Proteus Unbound Art - Various

As always, I like to get to know my characters before I write about them. The best way to do that is to create them, both as profiles and detailed information and with artwork.

To that end I thought I would throw out the Hyperion and a sneaky look at Nemesis.

Proteus Art - Hyperions

The second installment of Proteus, provisionally titled "Proteus Unbound" covers 12 books.

The overall theme of these books explore time travel and the consequences of it and in fact each of the books will show the principle of "For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction".

Everything really started back in Proteus book 6, at the end of the Endless Saga (or did it really ever end?). A version of Koli from 1700 years in the future comes back in time to warn her younger self of a simple act of kindness that would send the galaxy in to a ceaseless hell. Old Koli succeeded and disappeared, having been wiped from the timeline.

Nothing is ever that simple though.
Future Imperfect, the first saga looks at the Thousand Year war and the fall out of it in our time even though it had been avoided.
300 Years, the second saga deals with the new youngsters that have been brought in to their family although they have to face a new threat, one that could consume the galaxy and one that Koli was partly responsible for.
Legacy, the third saga sees the consequences of these errant time travellers on the chaged future as they have to face a threat unlike anything they have faced before, a threat from within that knows Proteus better than they know themselves.
Finally, there is the Hyperion Saga. I wont tease too much, but Proteus must face their greatest enemy, one that was created as a direct result of the time travellers wake in our time. They are Proteus, but they will become known as the Hyperions, an entirely new breed of Proteus ships that are capable of beating their cousins and they are not under the Alphians control.

This is just the first group of Hyperion class ships. You can see Avaddon, their Titan class leader in the centre. The two aqua marine ships are the battle field doctors, Pluriel and Cassiel. The three yellow tinted ships are their destroyer class ships lead by Raziel. Finally Azreal is the leader of the smaller fighter class ships.

Now for the bad news. You won't get to meet these lot for a while. Actually 34 books from now. I like to plan out my stories and I like to not only flesh out my characters in detail, but I also like to give them form too. That way I know who they are, what they look like and how they behave.

Proteus Art - Nemesis

From the future planned Proteus Legacy Saga.
This is the dark ship only known as Nemesis.

Proteus - Destiny is Coming

They were created to save their people from the end of the world... they failed.

Destiny is Coming...

The clues were always there though, an unfinished story, their true destiny

The Proteus Destiny Saga will kick off with Proteus Serendipity... coming soon.
This is the first ever shot I have done of all the Proteus family together including little Ayra, the newborn of the fleet that will change everything.
Destiny is something I have been working on for over 2 years now and to say I have been a stinker is an understatement. Those of you who love my books will have seen the clues all along but probably never given them a second thought.

What Music would fit with my books?

I have been doing this on Twitter and it started with a question I saw.
If your books were turned in to films, what music would you want?

Now... to say I am a big electronica and rave fan is an understatement, but few groups really have the power and presence of Orbital and while I listen to a lot of different music, theirs really lends itself to my works. In fact I listen to the In Sides album as I write. I find it spurs on my creative thought process.

So... without further ado... here is my list.

Proteus:
As an overall theme one track really sticks with Proteus overall. It is Really Slow Motion's Worlds Afar. This is in a way the sister track to Shifting Skys which I felt was best suited to Symbiotica.

That said, each of the four Proteus Sagas also have their own themes too so...

Neo Alphius Saga (Books 1 to 3) - For this, I have Orbital - There will come a time Instrumental
Endless Saga (Book 4 to 6) - For this, I have Orbital - Lost
Natural Selection Saga (Books 7 to 9) For this I have Orbital - Distractions

Okay... now I am teasing you...
The Destiny Saga (Books 10 to 12) - I have Orbital - Pants (Odd name, great track)

From here we move to the Proteus Unbound Series

As the Overall "Unbound" Theme for the whole series I have no choice really.
Two Steps From Hell - All Is Hell that End Well
It is worth noting that Proteus beyond the master theme uses Oribital tracks for each saga, but for Unbound I have slowly moved to Neoclassic Electronica from some of the greats of this field.

The Future Imperfect Saga- Dealing with the Thousand Year War and refugees from that time, particularly Mobeius and the Hellions, I wanted something really dark and foreboding for this saga. Aptly enough Really Slow Motion's The Dark One provides that frightening air of menace.
The Unity Saga - Considering the whole story of Unity as it looks at Koli's lost years in space and the fallout from those lost years. Considering the fact I am introducing the utterly terrifying "Unity" in these books, I wanted a track that had a soft melody mixed with a frightening element. The only one I really fell for with this is Really Slow Motions Th3 Awak3n1ng with its techno military theme
The Legacy Saga - For this one, I move to a collab between two power houses. The Legacy Saga really works with Varien and Two Steps from Hell - Corus Grom (Sneaky bit - There is a really spooky vocal sound in this track that almost makes you wince. For those who are interested, that sound is what I imagine Nemesis to sound like when she tries to speak)
The Hyperion Saga - After much consideration, the track I think fits the best is Really Slow Motion's Bionic Souls. It fits with the whole three books as it tells the story of Hyperion

Symbiotica - For this, I wanted something that told the story of that brave group that left their home behind as it died. I needed something beautiful and evocative while mixing in some scifi elements, telling the story that would lead up to Proteus. To that end, going back to Really Slow Motion with a beautiful and haunting track called Shifting Skies
(Sneaky bit - not only do I do the artwork, but I also like to think what things sound like too. If you listen to shifting skies, there is this pulse like sound throughout the track. If you ever wondered what the sound of a Proteus ship jumping sounds like, this is it. Key to this time index and you will hear it at 1.36 onwards.)
For the Shadow War Saga (part of the Proteus Unbound Series although this falls under Symbiotica), I wanted to change things up a little bit. I picked Instrumental Core's Hybridisation of Humanity. This is one seriously dark and moving track and fits so well with the themes.

Pentalore - Radically changed my mind here. I really wanted something different for this and I came across Instrumental Core. They do Neoclassical Dubstep and it is just stunning. For Pentalore I fell in love with their mood and powerful Dark Angel track. Take a listen.

Dystopian Detective - For this series I break with the norm and I have a different group - LFO and their excellent and spooky "Think a Moment"

Alphius Prime - I originally chose a track by Orbital however another track actually sat right with me, even down to its name. I have changed my mind a few times until I came across a track on the Two Steps From Hell Dragon Album called Emerald Princess. This is a stunning piece of music that really encapsulates the whole Alphius Prime Two Cities Saga. It starts quite ancient, with an almost fantasy score, but it evolves introducing more modern instruments until in the end it effectively becomes almost modern electronica. In a way this evolution fits with the story of Alphius Prime although I really can't say more than that as it would give too much of this epic story away.

Olympus Initiative - Again, its not out yet, but for this I wanted something hard, classy and slapping you round the head - Magnetic Man's Karma Crazy is perfect.

Children of the Empire - Again this is still in the works, but it finally brings the Archal's out of the shadows and they have been haunting my books for a while now. This is a full on three part cross over series featuring Symbiotica, Dystopian Detective, Pentalore, Proteus and the Olympus Initiative as they fight for the very survival of Earth as we know it.
Music wise, I am returning to Intrumental Core with their epic track Angels Amongst Demons, almost as if the track was written for this series - by far one of the most powerful pieces of music I have heard.
This is a very haunting, jarring and somewhat sad track which really fits with the series and when you do finally meet the Archals you will see why the Aemon were so fearful of them.

Aioria - This new series in development is the journey of an Artificial Intelligence as it learn about our world in the backdrop of being hunted just because he exists. I wanted something beautiful and haunting for the theme and Really Slow Motion has their epic track Aeorian.

Finally... not a series, but a character theme tune, in the shape of Koli, my favourite bonkers little starship. For this, can't help but have the extremely fun and playful Orbital - Fun with the System

Proteus Art - Hellions Technical

Well, you have seen the first piece of art and now its time to introduce the Hellions.

Proteus Art - Hellions

In the darkest period of the Thousand Year War, the Alliance and the Apeyron were in stalemate, neither side capable of putting end to this circle of insanity.
As the two great enemies, the Aemon and Archals finally put aside their differences they embarked on a secret project. Both races knew the truth, that while heroes are forged in the fires of war, heroes would not be the one who would win the war.
To do that, you needed villains. Monsters without morality, without conscious and without mercy.
As Proteus worked on the Starlance Weapons platform, a planet killer designed to be the ultimate deterrent, the Aemon and the Archals took the Proteus genetic archive and in secret created their own weapons. Twisting the Proteus Genome, bastardising it they created the Hellions, the first true male Proteus Warships.
Bloodthirsty and ruthless, the Hellions were everything these two ancient races had hoped for. Freed of the morality of their creators, this offshoot of the Proteus family tipped the scales giving them the upper hand. However their arrival strained the Alliance to its core, Proteus unable to control their new brothers and in the end they were banished, forbidden from entering the war, not that it stopped them.
Then things changed. The Hellions had made an impact on the war, forcing the Apeyron in to deeper darkness as the Archals homeworld of Arisal was destroyed in retaliation ending another of the great races of the Empire.
It is not surprising that at this point of the war everyone was focused on this atrocity rather than something that would come to light much later. Emperor Razon had been rumoured to have left Apeyra on a mission to save the Empire, and at almost the same time the Hellions disappeared. Neither Razon or the Hellions were ever seen again.
In dark whispers around the alliance it was rumoured that Grand Council Servay had made a deal with the devil, sending Novak and his team of brigands after the Emperor to cut the snakes head off and end the war. Even if this was true, the war did not end, the fight growing desperate and vicious.
It is still the one mystery that nobody ever revealed though. What was the fate of Emperor Razon and the Hellions that were sent to hunt him down and kill him?

Proteus Art - The Future that Never Was

There was a future, one where a simple mistake led to hell for the whole galaxy. It started with the destruction of Beletrix, home of the Alphians by their own hand as their scientific curiosity got out of control. This then sent the Emperor of the Apeyron insane as he mourned the loss of his son and set the Apeyron in to Civil war, one that spilled out to the rest of the galaxy.
Earth, Dendritia, Arisal and other worlds were wiped out in what became known as the Thousand Year War.
At the heart of the Apeyrons war efforts were fleet of Harbinger class ships, planet killers and the only force to stand in their way was an allience between Proteus and the Aemon.

This is the last stand of Arisal as the Harbinger closes in for the kill. Vexa, Grand Arbiter of the Proteus fleet tries desparately to save the world before its destruction.
(Merry Christmas Everyone!)

Sneak Peak - Proteus Future Imperfect Saga (Artwork)

As usual, I have been busy although behind the scenes and its time to introduce seven new Proteus ships that will make their debute in the Future Imperfect Saga.

So without futher ado...

Rather proud of these lot although I have a few favourites in Vexa and Kreyo.
Needless to say one of these ships is the anti hero of the Future Imperfect Saga and perhaps could be considered to be the villain of the story. Needless to say this is almost the opposite to Proteus Evolution as we get a snapshot in to the Future that Never was.

Sighs... only 20 more books to write before I get to Future Imperfect...

Proteus Art - The War Doctor

Another sneak peak art wise at another new character that will be introduced in the Proteus Future Imperfect Saga.
This is Servey and she is something else all together.
Technically classified as a Super Titan, Servey is near enough 5 kilometers long, a true leviathan. She is a carrier ship capable of acting as a mobile starbase and medical facility for other members of her family. She is of such a scale and mass she is actually incapable of going down to planets as the gravity would kill her.
Servey has 6 docks in her abdomen capable of accepting all other Proteus ships and to give an idea of scale, the ship next to her is a Titan. These Docks offer full medical and repair facilities to tend to the wounded. In addition Servey comes as a package. She has Io and Callisto, two heavily armed Proteus Warships as her protectors and her personal assistant, little Bix. Servey requires another support ship to help her jump due to her size and Bix fulfils that role.

Proteus Art - The Last Transmission

This is the last transmission of the Apeyron shipyard Gallor Sigma, destroyed over 40,000 years ago in what was called a terrible accident.
For the Apeyron of that time, this dark ship was utterly alien and is believed to have attacked the starbase resulting in the loss of over 1300 souls.

Don't judge me, but this image is from the Proteus Future Imperfect Saga (Books 14, 15 and 16) which are currently being written....
I know... I still have books 10, 11, 12 and 13 to write and release... sometimes though I get an idea which won't stay quiet

I am hoping to get a new book out by Christmas, so keep watching.

Enjoy!

Coming this summer...

I would like to thank everyone who bought my books over the last month. It is staggering in a way but in one single month I sold nearly as many books as I did the entire of last year!

As a teaser / treat I have decided to give you a sneak peak at what is coming and I hope the covers give you an insight.

Here is the insights in to what is coming...

Symbiotica - Spectres of our Past

"Everyone came from somewhere and regardless of who they are today, their past is always looming. As Flip and Koli return to Earth following the events in the Proteus Natural Selection saga, Flip is surprised to be approached by her old Editor from the paper she worked at as he bring her troubling news. Her final piece before being thrown in to the Alphian's world had exposed a scandal in the halls of power and landed a Senator in deep trouble, with corruption charges being levied against him. He warns her that there is a contract out on her life, the Senator have absconded and gone in to hiding, out for revenge. Flip is dismissive considering the new world she now lives in, but leaving the restaurant they are gunned down.
Meanwhile in Tokyo, Tie is troubled when she receives a text message from her mother. Her father is in a serious condition in hospital and her mother is pleading with her to come home and make peace, something Tie finds ironic considering they disowned her after finding out she was gay. Tie decides to travel to Hong Kong to deal with her parents and try to put the past to bed, but it soon becomes apparent that things are not quite what they seem to be.
With Norcee arriving at the Olympus Spaceport delivering secretive equipment, Sellie has decided to leave her past behind her as with Sarah, Norcee and Ryal they head back to the Foundry. Sellie is quitting her job and packing her things up. Her world now revolves around her young friend and she has found the place where she fits in, but things take a dark turn as Sarah snaps, bitter and angry over what happened to her. She is out for revenge on the gang members who put her in a coma and she is going to tear their world down single handed if necessary.
Will Tie get to the bottom of what is really happening with her family, can Sellie stop Sarah's hate fuelled rampage of vengeance and can our friends hope to stop Koli from finding and killing the Senator who has brutally cut down her best friend and partner?"

Dystopian Detective - The Kakoi Riddle

"There is a dark cloud hanging over the city of Manchester as Ella and her team get to grips with the reality that a menacing alien intelligence is at work in their city, the only lead they have is a mysterious urn that has disappeared from the Manchester Museum.
When a leading Professor of Archaeology is found dead, it seems like just another case of suicide however for Ella and her team, this man was the only prominent link to the mysterious urn. This Professor of Antiquities is one of the world's leading researchers in ancient artefacts and his prize research item was an item simply known as the Kakoi. On its surface are indecipherable markings that Ella recognises as being the Apeyron language. Contacting Beletrix and sending the picture over, Tath confirms her suspicions, but the photographs are unclear yet he translates a fragment of it which worries Ella. The fragment reads 'Lest the unspoken escapes and infects that which is Endless'.
Investigating the Professor death, Ella and her team must race to try and locate this Kakoi and the terrible truth it may hold that would threaten her home and perhaps the world.
Will Ella find the truth behind the Professors death or will a terrible darkness be unleashed on Earth?"

Pentalore - Legends

"This was certainly not where Cali, Lexa and Marcus expected to be as they are now stranded in the distant past of the Aemon's home world shortly before the end of the Darkening, faced with an apocalyptic world at war entering its final days. It seems that Anchee has a plan for them, a plan that somehow involves his younger self and the Prophecies of Pentalore. Travelling to the home lands of the Yso, they find themselves faced with a rebellion instigated by a young fire demoness who finds the bravery of Cali inspiring as our friends become involve with this rebellion as they unwittingly shape history itself.
Meanwhile back on Earth Biferus is struggling to comprehend this new world he has found himself in as working with his daughters former personal assistant he starts his quest to hunt down his sociopathic daughter in order to learn the secrets behind Kali and how she was created. Things however take a twist as the Regent returns to reclaim her sister only to find a new shocking truth over Kali's true origins.
Will Namah make peace with her niece and rescue Letesh and with the Lessenholk threatening everything on Aemus in its distant past, can Cali avoid her fate of becoming known throughout history as the destroyer of worlds and can our young heroes fulfil their destiny and find a way back home?"

Symbiotica - Fallen Gods

"With Flip recovering at the Foundry Koli has to take time to come to terms with what she has done with her friend's help, however when Brie and Director Blyth DeVeer of British Intelligence arrive at the Foundry, things are about to take a very dark turn.
The President of the United States has been growing more reckless, some may even say he is developing a god complex and he is fully aware of the power within his grasp. With everyone having been distracted, he has put his plan in to action and his goals are terrifying.
A full battalion of troops with heavy ordinance is descending on the Foundry with the goal of capturing them all, imprisoning them and stealing their technology. Initiating the lock down protocol, putting a shield up around the Foundry the teams only option is to travel to the Olympus spaceport to garner the support of the United Nations.
Arriving they find this attack goes far further, Olympus Island under siege from the American fourth fleet demanding Olympus turns over their Avoran fleet to the President. Now with the shield grid installed protecting the island they are safe, but they can't escape and considering the power they have at their disposal, they can't retaliate either.
With the United Nations unable to change the President's mind and the tension, rising will our friend and the Olympus Initiative manage to survive this threat from within?"

Proteus Serendipity

"If there is one thing that always seems to happen on Beletrix it is that they never like things quiet. With the Avoran ship Eclipse now fully reworked and in prime condition once more and Corona refitted and almost as good as new, our friend's curiosity over Eclipse's failed experimental star drive has led to the decision to create one more Proteus ship. She is not entirely Proteus though, featuring a reworked and revised version of the Avoran's experiment.
As Corona and Eclipse leave for Earth, the Proteus family welcome their newest youngster in to their fold, the shy and reserved Ayra. It soon becomes apparent that for all their brilliance, the Avorans were a flawed species and while Ayra can use this experimental star drive, it distorts time more than it does space. Their project was always doomed to fail and Ayra is scheduled to be refitted with a standard Proteus star drive.
For other members of the Proteus family things are returning to normal. Miras and Saya continue to search for the final world for the new Apeyron Empire, while Koli and Cenya return to Alphius Prime to continue the clear out of the Mere Sciences Vault, a place where the most dangerous technology and precious artefacts of their people resides on their long dead home world.
Venturing in to the deepest sections of the Vaults, in a room that has not been set foot in for over three hundred years, Koli and Flip move a piece of equipment only to find something highly confusing hidden behind it. On the wall, etched in to the stone is a message that makes no sense. It is a message that should not be there, written by a person they both know has never been in this room before.
Returning to Beletrix Koli talks with Miras and Terrik, sharing what she has learnt and the inescapable conclusion of what she has found. Knowing this message and what it may hold for all their futures, the three sisters must decide what to do with this information as it could change everything."
